Rtn. Major SK Sharma, an active member of Rotary Club of Udhna, is a science graduate and Ex-Indian Army (Artillery) Officer who retired in 1992 after dedicating 23 years to the Nation. Bold in looks but humble at heart 'Major Sharma' as he is popularly known, carries under his belt all the rare distinction an officer can dream in one's Army career 'Senior Command', 'Staff College' and 'Long Gunnery Staff College' are the few of the many achievements. Dynamic as he is, 'Major Sharma' at the Army Command Level reined supreme as a sportsman & was outstanding in Football, Boxing, Golf and Polo.
1971 is the year which will be remembered in the history for the crucial “INDO-PAK” war, where Major SK Sharma fought as a Commando and was given the most difficult task of entering the rare areas of enemy to disrupt & destroy their supply line and Line of communication. This brave commando was hit by a bullet in his lower abdomen during an airborne attack at Dhaka (Bangladesh). Currently, Major Sharma runs one of the largest Security Services known as “SISA Group” as its Chairman; which employs 8000 Ex-servicemen and has its presence all over the Country. He is also a distributor of I0C-Indane Gas.
Major SK Sharma joined Rotary Club of Udhna in 1999. In the ascending Rotary career, he won the Best Club Secretary award for the R.Y. 2002-03. He became President in the R.Y. 2005-06 and won “The Best President” award alongwith 20 other District / R.I. awards for his Club. As the club President Major Sharma was bestowed with “Rotary International Public Relation Award” by PRIP. Carl- Wilhelm Stenhammar. Major Sharma's commitment did not stop but gained further momentum as he is the only Rotarian of R.I. Dist. 3060 who has personally contributed US $ 17,000 during the R.Y. 2005-06 and Major SK Sharma now has become a Major Donor level III having contributed $50000 to foundation. Having trudged on his motto of Life “If you refuse to accept anything but the BEST, you very often get it”, Major SK Sharma was unanimously nominated as District Governor Nominee of R.I. Dist. 3060 for the R.Y. 2009-10, as it's Governor.
But Life is not always a joyous flow; Major Sharma lost his wife “VARSHAJI” in the year 2004. Blessed with a daughter 'Tanu' who is happily married in Surat; son 'Sameer' who is a member of R.C. of Udhna and the Managing Director of “SISA Group”, a Paul Harris Fellow- who also served Merchant Navy for eight years as a Second Officer but had to succumb to join his father business. 'Sameer' is married to 'Anubha' who is also member of R.C. of Udhna, a Paul Harris Fellow and is managing IOC distributorship + is Director (Finance) of “SISA Group”. All the four member of the family are members of Paul Harris Society. “ROTARY' is his only love but grand daughter “RAASHI' also a Paul Harris Fellow has added life to Major Sharma's world after loss of beloved wife. |
